ORGANISATION AND MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AND GROWTH

CONSULTANCY

You want your investment in training and development to improve your business results - so do we! Members of the Moore Training and Development team have extensive experience in helping organisations to identify exactly what additional or improved skills and knowledge the business needs, creating training strategies aligned with business strategies and providing the mechanisms to monitor and evaluate value added by training spend. We can help you to identify the appropriate approach to training and development to suit your organisation's current situation, taking into account market pressures and budgetary constraints.

Alongside discussions with the management team about business objectives, we also use a range of other methods for training needs analysis such as structured interviews and questionnaires. We find that the more staff we are able to meet, the better our understanding of the organisation's culture and current issues. We also have experience in the design and management of assessment and development centres

Once a training plan has been agreed we can continue to work with you in a number of ways.

1. designing and delivering training programmes and workshops

2. designing programmes for delivery by in-house training staff (if necessary co-delivering or providing trainer training).

3. helping you to source training providers for topics outside our areas of expertise

EXTERNAL FACILITATION

Using our expert facilitators will free you up to fully participate in key meetings such as strategic planning or problem solving sessions. The facilitator will ensure that the meeting progresses efficiently whilst also maintaining the participation of all members so that they are fully committed to decisions and actions.

Also skilled in a wide range of strategic planning and problem solving tools, the facilitator will guide the group through helpful techniques to produce better solutions and leave them more skilled to address future issues.

External facilitation is also valuable in sensitive situations to reassure all parties that decision-making processes are objective and robust.

In addition to providing external facilitators, we also specialise in training members of your staff as facilitators to provide you with an in-house resource. Facilitation Skills workshops can vary from two to five days, depending upon participants existing skills and the level of expertise required. Our definition of the facilitator's role is outlined here - this is a handout we typically use within our facilitator training programmes.

TRAINER TRAINING

We can enhance the effectiveness of your in-house training by sharing new and practical techniques and by ensuring full understanding of the psychology of adult learning. Sometimes managers in the business are required to run training sessions as part of business initiatives and we can provide focussed workshops to give them enough skill and confidence to do it well. Moore Training & Development can provide support either through one-to-one coaching or by running training skills workshops.

COACHING AND MENTORING

More and more organisations are realising the value of one-to-one coaching for managers at critical times in their career; perhaps following promotion or role change or when faced with a particularly challenging project. The coach will be selected and the style of coaching will vary according to the individual manager and the situation. A number of Moore Training & Development consultants are qualified users of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator which offers a useful underlying structure for coaching conversations. Our Principal Consultant, Lindsey Moore, is a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is also a powerful basis for improving personal performance. Often the manager needs only two or three sessions to achieve the coaching objective, in other situations support is provided for up to six months. Longer term support tends to move towards mentoring. The way in which we differentiate between coaching and mentoring is shown in this table and a recent case history demonstrates the effectiveness of focussed coaching.

PROJECT START-UP AND PROGRESS WORKSHOPS Studies into the differences between successful projects and 'the rest' have consistently shown that a well-planned project start-up meeting, attended by all team members, contributes greatly to later success. Combining our skills of training - sharing knowledge about effective team processes, and facilitation - helping the team agree how it will operate, communicate, make decisions, resolve conflict etc. we can help teams to both 'hit the ground running' and 'stay the course'. Regular progress checks are also valuable, and particularly after any change in team membership. Each event is designed specifically for the team and we ensure that progress on real issues is made - we believe these activities are part of the job, not breaks from it.

DESIGN AND DELIVERY OF TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The breadth of expertise and experience amongst Moore Training & Development consultants means that we can provide a fully integrated training and development service. One of our specialisms is designing general management programmes incorporating a range of topics which have been identified as important development areas. These programmes can be 5-day intensive workshops or shorter, often two-day, modules over a period of six to twelve months.

As examples, we designed and delivered fourteen repeats of the 'Making a Difference Programme', a five-day intensive management course, for AGCO UK and a four-module programme for high potential young managers for a blue-chip client organisation.

We also design and run workshops on specific skills such as leadership, communication and influence, creative problem solving, mindmapping, effective project management, commercial management, purchasing, contract law, coaching skills, business improvement tools, trainer and facilitator training. Workshops can vary in length from a half-day to five days but all will be highly interactive, incorporating a range of activities such as syndicate tasks, paired exercises, individual study and whole group discussions to ensure that every individual's preferred learning style is catered for. One thing we don't do is deliver long lectures or allow 'powerpoint-derived rigor-mortis' to set in!

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator is a helpful tool for reviewing a whole range of management issues - we use it for leadership, teambuilding and communication. However, increasing one's self-awareness and learning about personality differences are valuable in their own right and we also run three-day programmes allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the MBTI and begin to apply it in all aspects of their lives.

OUTSOURCED TRAINING MANAGEMENT SERVICE

This service is offered to smaller organisations who do not have a dedicated training department or larger organisations whose resources are overstretched. Contracts can range from a minimum of two days per month to a maximum of two days per week and day rates vary accordingly. A single consultant, selected for 'best fit' with your organisation, will provide consultancy support, training design, delivery and evaluation, coaching and mentoring as required, bringing in additional specialist resources as required. This offers the dual benefits of building up a relationship with one individual as well as accessing the range of expertise available within Moore Training & Development.
