Change Management

We know that change happens on a daily basis at all levels of the organisation.  However, there are times when major changes are required.  Our consultants can guide you through an effective change management process, helping you at every step of the way to ensure the required benefits are achieved.  Our robust change management method will ensure that the change is managed effectively whilst day-to-day business continues, that staff are fully involved and that the organisation learns from the process so that it is better able to manage future changes. Our method is based on sound project management principles and brings together our experience of process improvement, culture change, communication, leadership and the learning organisation.

For example, one of our consultants recently led a project to introduce new working practices across the project management and engineering domains.  An industry standard process improvement framework (CMMI) was used as the basis for company-wide implementation of new processes, practices and procedures.  The project was run as a change management programme, recognising the need for constant education, training and communication to support the implementation of new working practices.  The company achieved Level 2 accreditation for three of its Divisions within 18 months of project launch.

Performance Management

We have extensive experience of designing and implementing performance management processes in a range of organisations.  It is essential that the process is coherent with the organisation culture and that all other management and leadership activity complements it.  In particular, it should enable effective talent management across the organisation.

Our consultancy support covers the design of the process and documentation, how to introduce the process to staff and how to review the value it adds in terms of performance improvement and talent management.

To ensure the success of the performance management process, we ensure managers are equipped with the necessary skills such as:

·        objective setting

·        leadership and motivation

·        coaching

·        structuring the performance review meeting

·        giving feedback to improve performance

·        career development

Coaching And Mentoring

More and more organisations are realising the value of one-to-one coaching for managers at critical times in their career; perhaps following promotion or role change or when faced with a particularly challenging project. The coach will be selected and the style of coaching will vary according to the individual manager and the situation. A number of Moore Training & Development consultants are qualified users of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, a psychometric tool offering a useful underlying structure for coaching conversations. Our Principal Consultant, Lindsey Moore, is a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is also a powerful basis for improving personal performance. Often the manager needs only two or three sessions to achieve the coaching objective, in other situations support is provided for up to six months. A recent case history demonstrates the effectiveness of focussed coaching.

Senior Management Development Programmes

The breadth of expertise and experience amongst Moore Training & Development consultants means that we can provide a fully integrated training and development service. One of our areas of expertise is designing senior management programmes incorporating a range of topics that have been identified as important development areas. These programmes can be 5-day intensive workshops or shorter, often two-day, modules over a period of six to twelve months.

As examples, we designed and delivered fourteen repeats of the 'Making a Difference Programme', a five-day intensive management course, for AGCO UK and a four-module programme for high potential young managers for a blue-chip client organisation.

External Facilitation

Using our expert facilitators will free you up to fully participate in key meetings such as strategic planning or problem solving sessions. The facilitator will ensure that the meeting progresses efficiently whilst also maintaining the participation of all members so that they are fully committed to decisions and actions.

Also skilled in a wide range of strategic planning and problem solving tools, the facilitator will guide the group through helpful techniques to produce better solutions and leave them more skilled to address future issues.

External facilitation is also valuable in sensitive situations to reassure all parties that decision-making processes are objective and robust.

In addition to providing external facilitators, we also specialise in training members of your staff as facilitators to provide you with an in-house resource. Facilitation Skills workshops can vary from two to five days, depending upon participants existing skills and the level of expertise required. Our definition of the facilitator's role is outlined here - this is a handout we typically use within our facilitator training programmes.

Trainer Training

We can enhance the effectiveness of your in-house training by sharing new and practical techniques and by ensuring full understanding of the psychology of adult learning. Sometimes managers in the business are required to run training sessions as part of business initiatives and we can provide focussed workshops to give them enough skill and confidence to do it well. Moore Training & Development can provide support either through one-to-one Coaching or by running Training Skills Workshops.

Assessment & Development Centres

We have extensive experience of designing and managing Assessment and Development Centres.  We can develop a competence framework for you or build the Centre around your existing framework.  Our Centres are lively and enjoyable for the participants as well as producing valuable data for talent management and development plans.  We incorporate individual and group activities such as discussions, in-tray exercises and case studies and undertake structured interviews to elicit robust evidence of competence. Psychometric tests are included where appropriate.  We recently designed and managed a Development Centre for the Arab Media Group, a dynamic organisation based in Dubai.  The Centre was the foundation stone of a new talent management strategy in an organisation facing stiff competition to attract and retain the brightest and best individuals.  An outline of the Centre design is available here.  All the activities were written specifically for the organisation to reflect the industry and culture.

Creativity

Our principal consultant, Lindsey Moore, is an expert in creative thinking and creative problem solving.  She lectures on the Open University Business School MBA Module “Creativity and Change” and has written on-line learning programmes on Creative Thinking and Creative Management.  She runs one and two-day training programmes for staff at all levels.  One client has incorporated the two-day programme into its modular senior management programme, another asked that all its 250 staff be trained in using creative problem solving tools, requiring twelve two-day sessions.  Lindsey also runs short sessions within other training programmes and at meetings.  A number of branches of the Association of Project Management have invited her to introduce them to some creativity tools at their evening meetings.  Her own creativity is employed in all training workshops, through the design of tasks and activities and the use of icebreakers and energisers.

Project Management

All Moore Training and Development consultants have experience of working in project-based organisations.  Much of our work involves implementing best-practice project processes, designing competence frameworks and training programmes to develop project management capability across organisations.    Our unique three-day Art of Project Leadership programme is an intensive and participative development programme focussed on the people management skills and techniques required by project managers in addition to their process expertise.  .

Set in the context of Emotional Intelligence, this experiential programme provides the opportunity for project managers to examine how they manage key relationships within and outside the project team and to receive feedback on their personal leadership, team-working and communication styles. The key themes covered are:

·                    Leadership

Using leadership and coaching to enhance team members’ abilities and contributions to the project

·                    Influencing

Learning a range of techniques to influence all stakeholders either one-to-one or in meetings

·                    Teambuilding

Understanding the PM’s role in establishing and maintaining effective team processes to support the delivery of projects

·                    Managing Conflict

Strategies and styles for resolving conflict and improving working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

The programme includes a team project, run outdoors, that requires the application of  project management skills such as planning, risk management, customer relationship management, monitoring and reviewing.  It also provides a vehicle for participants to practice their leadership, influencing and communication skills.

Feedback from participants suggests that this programme really hits the mark
