UNSCRAMBLING THE BRAIN There is clear evidence that there is a strong link between physical and mental energy. Therefore, when our bodies are lethargic and still, it is hard to get our brains to be lively and creative! This simple exercise is a useful ‘warm up’ before a problem solving session or as a ‘pick-me-up’ when your energy is low. Stand up.Start at the top left and work through the alphabet, saying each letter out loud whilst simultaneously doing the action indicated by the corresponding symbol. L = raise your left arm and right foot R = raise your right arm and left foot T = raise both arms and stand on tiptoe
N.B. This exercise can be modified for more discreet use in the office by saying it in your head rather than out loud and by raising fingers and toes rather than arms and legs. Once you have used the exercise a few times, the pattern will become habitual so you will need to change the sequence of movements. Back to Resources |
